Uhuru Kenyatta cautions Jubilee party officials against attacking Rigathi Gachagua

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta called out leader from the Jubilee for attacking former Deputy President and DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua.

The former headstate went on to issue a warning to members of the party using social media to instult Gachagua saying that Jubilee Party should not be known as a political party of insults.

Speaking during a Jubilee Party grassroots leaders meeting in Murang’a on Friday afternoon, Uhuru vwarned party officials to avoid abusive political conduct, encouraging them to engage in respectful political discourse instead.

He also challenged those who have been criticising opposition politicians, especially Gachagua, to either adhere to his directive or leave the party.

“At times, I’m saddened to see people on social media who pretend to defend the party by insulting Rigathi Gachagua and others. I don’t want that nonsense at my party. People should do their politics respectfully,” Uhuru declared.

He added that most of those who are insulting other leaders are Jubilee party officials.

“It’s sad that most of them are party officials and let me say this, before I hand over this party, if they continue doing so, I will not hesitate to call them out and send them packing. I don’t want to hear that ever again,” he added.

The former President particularly singled out Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, cautioning him against mobilising other party members to attack Gachagua.

Uhuru urged the party leadership to concentrate on promoting the party’s manifesto and objectives to grow its membership base, rather than wasting time hurling insults at other political figures on social media.

During the gathering, Uhuru also rallied support behind former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi’s presidential aspirations, emphasizing that he has worked closely with him and can attest to his leadership capabilities.

He rejected suggestions that his backing of Matiang’i was based on personal ties, instead pointing to the former Interior CS’s track record of accomplishments during the previous administration.

Uhuru’s remarks follow criticism from Kioni a month earlier, where he accused Gachagua of allegedly intimidating the party’s presidential candidate, Fred Matiang’i.

During a September interview this year, the Jubilee Secretary General claimed that Gachagua had been attempting to pressure Matiang’i into leaving the party.

Kioni further alleged that the former Deputy President was covertly collaborating with President William Ruto’s government in preparation for the 2027 elections, describing him as an opposition mole.
