Ulinzi Stars FC has confirmed the appointment of Coach Stephen Ocholla as the Interim Head Coach of the club, following the departure of Danstun Nyaudo, who was relieved of his duties with immediate effect on Monday, October 27, 2025 after a string of poor results.
In a statement released by the club on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Ulinzi Stars expressed confidence in Ocholla’s experience and leadership.
“Ulinzi Stars FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Coach Stephen Ocholla as the Interim Head Coach of the club. Coach Ocholla brings a wealth of experience and leadership, having served both as a player and coach within Kenyan football,” read the statement.
The management noted that Ocholla’s familiarity with the club’s culture and his leadership background made him the right choice to steady the team during this transitional period, emphasizing the importance of restoring confidence and consistency within the squad.
“His deep understanding of the game, discipline and commitment to excellence align perfectly with the values and vision of Ulinzi Stars FC. We warmly welcome Coach Ocholla back to the Ulinzi family and wish him every success as he leads the team into a new chapter,” the statement added.
Ocholla returns to the club after a three-year absence, having previously managed the Soldiers during the first leg of the 2021/22 season before being dismissed due to inconsistent results. He was replaced in the second leg by Benjamin Nyangweso, the 2010 title-winning coach.
Ocholla’s first assignment back in charge will be on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, when Ulinzi Stars host Bidco United at Ulinzi Sports Complex from 4:00 PM in a crucial league clash.
He takes over the team at a challenging time, with Ulinzi Stars currently 15th on the table with 5 points, having managed one win, two draws, and two losses from their opening five matches.
The Soldiers began the season brightly with a 1-0 win over Murang’a Seal, followed by goalless draws against Kariobangi Sharks and Kenya Police FC, but back-to-back defeats to Mara Sugar FC (2-1) and Kakamega Homeboyz (3-1) sealed Nyaudo’s fate.
