Vera Sidika tells off critics for ridiculing her club hosting gig in Busia

Kenyan socialite and entrepreneur Vera Sidika has fired back at critics questioning her recent club appearance in Busia, labeling the backlash as baseless and rooted in envy.

Over the weekend, Vera’s appearance at a local nightclub in Busia sparked heated debate online, especially on X (formerly Twitter), where some users mocked the move as a “recession indicator.”

One user wrote, “Vera Sidika hosting at a club in Busia is truly a recession indicator,” while others suggested it was a sign that the influencer had fallen on hard times.

The narrative gained traction on other platforms as well, with some saying, “Uchumi ya Wan Tam ni mbaya mpaka Vera Sidika was seen hosting in Busia,” implying that the state of the economy may be driving celebrities to gigs in less mainstream towns.

In response, Vera took to her Instagram Stories to address the comments head-on. In a sharply worded post, she wrote:

“Seems like Kenyans have just discovered a new vocabulary, ‘Recession indicator’. “

“Kwani what’s wrong with me making a club appearance in Busia? I love connecting with my fans in all parts of the country.”

Later, she doubled down with another post that read:

“People wish to see me broke so bad, but God keeps disappointing them. But hey, it’s not a crime to be broke. So if me being broke tickles your nuts, good then, I am.”

Vera’s response has sparked further debate online, with fans and critics divided on whether the appearance was a smart move for outreach or a reflection of shifting fortunes.

Regardless, Sidika made it clear that she’s unbothered by the chatter and is proud to show love to all corners of Kenya, Busia included.
