Victor Osimhen’s future at Galatasaray is the subject of intense speculation after the Nigerian striker signaled his willingness to remain in Istanbul if his substantial contract demands are met.
The 26-year-old, who was instrumental in Galatasaray’s domestic double this season, has reportedly asked for a five-year deal with an annual salary of €20 million (approximately KSh 2.95 billion), which would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history and among the top earners in Europe.
According to Turkish media and former Galatasaray player Hasan Sas, Osimhen’s proposal would see him earn approximately €380,000 (approximately KSh 56.05 million) per week and commit to the club until 2030.
This request far exceeds Galatasaray’s current wage structure and places significant financial pressure on the club’s management, who must also consider the €75 million (approximately KSh 11.06 billion) release clause payable to Napoli to make the transfer permanent.
Galatasaray’s board is reportedly eager to retain Osimhen after his sensational campaign, where he scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, quickly becoming a fan favorite and the focal point of the club’s attack.
The Turkish champions are said to be preparing a record-breaking offer, with reports indicating they could raise their salary proposal to €15 million (approximately KSh 2.21 billion) per year still short of Osimhen’s €20 million demand, but a figure that would shatter the club’s financial records.
While Galatasaray is exploring sponsorship and Champions League revenue to fund the move, the club faces stiff competition from Europe’s elite.
However, Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United have reportedly withdrawn from the race, unwilling to meet Osimhen’s high wage and transfer fee demands.
This development leaves Galatasaray with a unique opportunity to secure the striker, provided they can reach an agreement that satisfies both the player’s financial ambitions and the club’s long-term strategy.
