A 189-capacity dormitory at Malava Boys High school in Kakamega County has been reduced to ashes after a fire broke out at around 5 a.m on Friday, October 3 morning, while students were in morning preps.
Nothing was salvaged from the fire that displaced learners, the majority of whom are Form One students.
Education officials say plans are underway to resettle those affected.
According to Malava OCPD Suleiman Majondo, investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, the school principal, Moses Moi, is locked in a board meeting with officials over the incident.
