The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has commended Kenya for the strides taken in the implementation of the corrective action following the 24/25 audit that had put Kenya in a watch list.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya on Wednesday received a high-level delegation from WADA led by Rodney Swigelaar (Director, Africa) at Talanta Plaza in Nairobi.
Swigelaar applauded the government’s support to the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya, a key pillar in ensuring that the country remains compliant.

CS Mvurya re-affirmed Kenya’s commitment in aligning with the WADA recommendations, building a stronger, more sustainable, transparent, and integrity-driven anti-doping system that corresponds with global best. practice.
“I have welcomed World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)’s commendation of Kenya’s progress in implementing the agreed corrective action plans and reviewing legislation to ensure full alignment with the World Anti-Doping Code,” CS Mvurya said.

Mvurya further underscored the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK)’s unwavering commitment to sustaining this trajectory, with a clear focus on strengthening institutional compliance and credibility.
“The government is firmly committed to implementing and expanding the Anti-Doping Program to Other Sports Disciplines (OSD) beyond athletics, in order to ensure equity, integrity, and comprehensive protection of clean sport across all sporting codes. Additional resources have been identified under the Exchequer to strengthen and scale up this program, enhancing governance, intelligence, investigations, and risk-based testing capacity across these disciplines,” CS Mvurya outlined.
Kenya continues to implement targeted reforms, including adopting agile policies to accommodate the revised compliance code, scaling up sensitization and education to entrench a culture of compliance, ring-fencing funding, and streamlining governance and staffing structures to enhance effectiveness and accountability.
“For us as WADA, the success of Kenya in terms of its anti-doping program should commensurate with its success on sporting field and athletics track around the world is very important and we are very happy with the kind of commitment from the government of Kenya and from the other stakeholders to ensure that the program here is in line with the anti-doping code,” Swigelaar said.
