Energy Cabinet Secretary (CS) Opiyo Wandayi has announced that the government has successfully implemented nearly all of the ten recommendations put forward by the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO).
According to CS Wandayi, the only issue that remains pending is that of compensation for victims of election violence, claiming that the matter is currently before the National Assembly.
Speaking at Ugambe Beach in Usigu Sub-County, Bondo Constituency, during the launch of a rural electrification project, Wandayi highlighted key achievements such as the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and amendments to the Elections Act.
“All that remains is the matter of compensation to victims of election violence, which is being handled by the National Assembly,” Wandayi said.
Flanked by Bondo Member of Parliament Dr. Gideon Ochanda, Wandayi accused some leaders of spreading propaganda against the government while ignoring its successes under President William Ruto.
He urged Nyanza residents to rally behind the president and ODM Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga, stressing that the region must move away from decades of political opposition that hindered development.
“No one should continue misleading the people from this region. We must decide once and for all that our votes will be cast for President Ruto come the next general elections,” Wandayi declared.
Dr. Ochanda, on his part, called on the Ministry of Energy to develop a policy to maximize the use of electric transformers nationwide. He argued that such a policy would eliminate the need for MPs to repeatedly submit lists of transformers requiring upgrades in their constituencies.
“We should not have to be asked to bring lists of transformers to be maximized every now and then,” said the legislator.
