Police have launched investigations after a security guard attacked a 34-year-old man with a panga, killing him on the spot in a suspected love triangle in Gaitu village, Imenti, Meru County.
According to the police report, the victim identified as Gilbert Muriuki was attacked in a house by a man who allegedly found him with his wife.
This was after the owner of the house, who is a security guard, pretended to go to work and laid a trap for Muriuki, who sneaked to his house at night.
During the incident, the suspect attacked his wife’s lover with a panga, leaving him with serious injuries.
The victim managed to escape from the scene and fell a few meters from the house where he died.
Meanwhile, the security officer escaped the scene after committing the crime but police recovered the murder weapon.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
At the same time, police urged members of the public to provide information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect as investigations continue.
In addition, the woman at the centre of the Saturday night incident was questioned as part of the probe.
