‘We have enough numbers to secure Ruto’s victory in 2027 elections’ – says CS Duale

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has said President William Ruto has high chances of being re-elected in the 2027 general elections.

According to Duale, the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition has the numbers to deliver a landslide victory for President Ruto in 2027, based on his development record.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Duale expressed confidence that the President’s re-election is not in doubt.

“William Ruto will come back with a landslide, his second term is guaranteed,” Duale said.

“He will be voted, not because of anything else, but because he will deliver on his promises,” he added.

The Health CS added that the upcoming 2029 national census is a political strategy, to ensure accurate data on population numbers which is crucial for voter strength.

“We have told them, for the census, they must say how many children and cows they have. We must have enough voters to bring back William Ruto,” he said.

His remarks emerged in the wake of heightened political tension between Ruto and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

For instance, Gachagua has been accusing the President of allegedly isolating the Mount Kenya region.

Meanwhile, Ruto on Wednesday claimed that the opposition was plotting to overthrow his government, pointing fingers at unnamed political players whom he accused of fueling violence.

In response, Gachagua dismissed Ruto’s claims, saying the opposition’s goal is to ensure Ruto is a one term President.

“Nobody wants to overthrow your government. we want to face you on the ballot in August 2027,” Gachagua said.

The former DP insisted that the “Wantam” movement, which he leads, is not a revolutionary force, but a political formation pushing for constitutional change of Kenya’s leadership.
