A family in Siaya County is demanding justice after their kin, David Oduor Okoth, was allegedly beaten to death in the early hours of March 30, 2026.
According to relatives, Oduor was taken from his house around 3 a.m. and assaulted by a group of men. His brother, Michael Otieno Okoth, said he found him dead shortly after the attack.
“I went and reported the matter to Aboke Police Station. The DCI officers confirmed my brother was dead, but we were forced as a family to contribute money to take him to the mortuary because no police vehicle was provided,” Michael said.

Family members claim that despite reporting the incident, no arrests have been made and investigations have stalled.
“It is so sad that until now there is no investigation ongoing. The police were silent even after we reported the matter. The crime scene was not secured,” said Boniface Otieno Okoth, another brother of the deceased.
The family alleges that a local assistant chief was involved in the incident.
“The assistant chief is the one who took him from the house and went and killed him. Now we are begging for justice,” said Florence Aworo Okoth, the victim’s sister.
A postmortem conducted by Dr. Dixon Mchana, a pathologist from Kakamega County, confirmed that Oduor died from injuries sustained during the assault.

“He succumbed to injuries following the assault. The head was spared, but the trunk and lips bore extensive damage. There was also a blood clot in the kidneys,” Dr. Mchana said.
The family is appealing to the government to ensure a fair investigation and bring those responsible to justice.
