Wilson Muchemi slams Kenyan skit comedy, calls for more creativity

Content creator Wilson Muchemi has criticized Kenyan skit comedians, saying much of their content lacks creativity and relies on overused jokes.

He shared his views in a post where he openly questioned the quality and originality of skit comedy dominating social media platforms.

In the post, Muchemi did not hide his words, stating, “Kenyan skit comedy isn’t funny. People are out here cracking the same everyday crowd pleaser, low IQ jokes,” adding that many skits require very little thought and have become repetitive.

He argued that creators often fall back on predictable punchlines and exaggerated characters, making many skits feel similar and uninspired.

According to Muchemi, the pressure to constantly produce content has led some comedians to prioritize quantity over quality.

He noted that while skit comedy continues to attract large audiences, the lack of fresh ideas has diluted its impact and limited its growth as a creative art form.

Despite his criticism, Muchemi also acknowledged creators who stand out. In the same post, he praised Crazy Kennar and Jaymo Decin, crediting them for delivering content that shows effort, structure and originality.

He said their work demonstrates that skit comedy can still be engaging without relying on recycled jokes.
