The President of the Voodoo Council Benin, His Highness Dah Couchoro Balogoun explained in detail what voodoo entails. He also stated the difference between voodoo and witchcraft.
Speaking exclusively to TV47, His Highness opined that witchcraft is a gift given to some people from God.
“Witchcraft is not voodoo witchcraft is a skill and knowledge that God has given to specific people, witchcraft is not created by men, it is not man made, you are born with witchcraft,” he stated.
He stated further that witchcraft is supposed to be used to do good but instead, human beings use it to commit evil.
“But human beings use it to fight instead of using it to do good things. Unfortunately, we use it to punish others that is why people fear witchcraft.”
He proposed a collabortion between three witchdoctors to end the war in Sudan.
“Unfortunately, yesterday we spoke of Sudan, if we have two or three witch doctors here, they will think on how to end war in Sudan they will give you a week and war will end. It will end. Apart from witchcraft, I have power in prayer.”
“I said it yesterday, when we were in Morocco, we suggested a creation of mutual spiritual gatherings and when there is a problem, we give them that problem everyone of them asks God according to their ways yesterday when they shared Sudan matters I went into concentration and God has given me answers o how to solve the Sudanese problem. Witchcraft is meant to do good unfortunately we use it negatively that is the difference,” he added.
Mr Couchoro debunked the association of voodoo and witchcraft saying that the two are parallel.
“There is voodoo everywhere, it is tradition. In Kenya, there is voodoo it has its own name Kenyans know how they call it, in Benin, we call it voodoo. Voodoo simply means tradition, the difference is that for us voodoo because we don’t see God we take everything that God has created as god. The earth it is god the earth what I worship,” he stated.
Mr Couchoro has practised voodoo since birth as he was born in a practising family. “I practise voodoo since I was born but since I went on retirement that is my principal activity. For Kenyans who love voodoo, you are welcome. The President of Benin also loves tradition.”
