WRC Safari Rally: Toyota unleashes star-studded line-up for Naivasha showdown

Toyota Gazoo Racing has assembled a five-car line-up for the 2026 WRC Safari Rally Kenya, set to take place from March 12 to 15 in Naivasha.

The manufacturer will field its GR Yaris Rally1 cars in what promises to be another punishing gravel showdown on Kenyan terrain.

Leading the charge is nine-time world champion Sébastien Ogier, who returns to the Safari aiming to reclaim the title he last won in 2023 and secure a third victory at the iconic event.

Joining Ogier in the WRC1 category are defending Safari champion Elfyn Evans of Great Britain, Japan’s Takamoto Katsuta and Sweden’s Oliver Solberg, completing a strong and experienced Toyota squad for the third round of the season.

This year’s rally will see notable changes to the traditional programme. Unlike the previous four editions, there will be no ceremonial flag-off at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and the Kasarani Super Special Stage has been dropped.

Instead, activities will be centred in Naivasha, where the rally will officially get underway next Thursday.

Drivers will tackle 20 competitive stages covering a total of 350.52 kilometres, navigating the rugged and unpredictable conditions that have long defined the Safari Rally.

The Kenyan leg is the third stop on the 14-round 2026 World Rally Championship calendar. In total, 46 drivers are entered across the WRC1, WRC2, WRC3 and national categories, setting up a packed and competitive weekend in the Rift Valley.
