‘You are next to be arrested for sponsoring protests’ – Oscar Sudi threatens Gachagua

Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has openly warned former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of an impending arrest.

In a video shared on X on Saturday July 5, 2025, Sudi accused Gachagua of fueling violent demonstrations.

Sudi’s warning has surfaced at a time when political tensions are running high, following recent Gen Z led protests against police brutality and government.

The Kapseret MP also insinuated that Gachagua is the mastermind and financier behind the Gen Z protests.

“I see that Wamunyoro you’ve gone into your regular incitement. You said Susan asked the President who we should we arrest’ and Mbarire asked the President whom to arrest. No. These are the people who planned the demonstrations; you as the financier of all that happened,” he remarked.

In the video, Sudi continued to warn Gachagua that his time is coming and that after the arrest of other protest organizers, he will be next.

“So stop saying you don’t know it is politically planned. After those others, it is you we will arrest. You cannot release money to destroy people’s property because of politics. You cannot speak hate every day, incite citizens, and burn police stations. It cannot be this country. So know that after them, you are next to be arrested.” he declared.

The remarks have only intensified an already raging political storm that erupted after Gachagua accused President Ruto of using police officers to oppress the Mt. Kenya community.

Gachagua made the claims while speaking at his aunt’s funeral in Nyeri, where he alleged that over 92% of the 400 people arrested in the region was due to political interests.

He also pointed a finger at National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, accusing him of playing a role in the crackdown.

During his address, Gachagua shared that he once had faith in Ruto but now deeply regrets ignoring his late aunt’s advice. According to him, she had warned that Ruto would eventually turn against him, his family, and even their village.

“She told me Ruto would come after me first and now it has happened,” Gachagua said.
