Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has criticized Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna following his removal as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General, accusing him of sending mixed signals about his political position.
Speaking on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Salasya expressed disappointment after Sifuna publicly affirmed his loyalty to ODM despite the leadership changes within the party.
“You have disappointed me and the entire nation. Sorry to say, but Edwin Sifuna is being used,” Salasya said, reacting to Sifuna’s press conference remarks.
The legislator argued that Sifuna’s decision to remain aligned with the party while criticizing internal decisions creates confusion among supporters and the public.
“This half-in, half-out stance is exactly the confusion I warned about, making it look like he’s opposing the regime while still tied to the party that’s cozying up to it,” Salasya stated.
During the press conference, Sifuna maintained that he remains committed to ODM and intends to challenge his removal through legal and public channels.
“We shall fight through all lawful means to the end. We will challenge every illegality in the court of law and in the court of public opinion.
I remain a loyal member and duly elected Secretary General of the ODM party,” Sifuna said.

He also accused some party members of undermining ODM’s founding principles.
“It is painful to note that sections of the party continue to desecrate the memory and legacy of Raila by turning this party into a theatre of illegality,” he added.
Sifuna was removed from his position as ODM Secretary General on February 11, 2026, in a move that has exposed internal divisions within the party and sparked reactions from leaders across the political divide.
