The Principal Secretary for Youth Affairs and the Creative Economy has called on the Kenyan youth to remain steadfast in their commitment to the nation, even amidst ideological differences.
“While our ideas and ideologies may be diverse and complex, our fidelity must always be to the preservation and advancement of our republic,” the PS stated, emphasizing the need for unity and patriotism above personal or political beliefs.
The PS’s statement comes at a time when the country’s youth are playing an increasingly vocal and visible role in shaping public discourse.
From activism and innovation to arts and digital entrepreneurship, young Kenyans have shown remarkable energy and creativity.
However, the PS has reminded the youth that national interest must take precedence over division.
“Youth are the engine of transformation,” he continued, but that transformation must be grounded in love for country and a shared vision for a better Kenya.”
His message resonated strongly with ongoing conversations about civic responsibility, especially in light of recent social movements and protests witnessed in the country.
The PS encouraged the youth to engage actively, but constructively, in nation-building. He also noted that expressing different viewpoints is healthy for democracy, but those views should never threaten national cohesion or the future of the republic.
He further challenged the youth to channel their energy towards innovative solutions that uplift communities, promote peace, and foster economic growth.
“In the creative economy, your ideas can shape culture. In civic spaces, your voices can inspire change. But always remember, Kenya is the home we must build together.”
The call serves as both a caution and a challenge, reminding the youth of their pivotal role in preserving the gains of past generations while pushing for progressive change.
As the largest demographic in the country, young people have both the numbers and the power to influence Kenya’s destiny. The PS’s message is a timely reminder to wield that power wisely, with patriotism, purpose, and unity.
