Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba on Friday, January 9 released results for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
The event took place at the AIC Chebisaas Boys’ High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, and it preceded a briefing of President William Ruto over the same results at the Eldoret State Lodge.
Of the 993,226 candidates who sat the 2025 KCSE examination, 492,012 were male, while 501,214 were female, representing 49.54% and 50.46% of the total candidature respectively.
This is the second year in a row since inception of KCSE examination that female candidates are more than male candidates.
The results revealed that 1,932 candidates obtained an overall mean grade A (plain). This was an improvement as compared to 1,693 candidates in 2024.
The number of candidates with direct university entry qualification of mean grade C+ and above was 270,715, an improvement compared to 246,391 in the 2024.
The number of candidates with grade C- (minus) and above was 507,131 in the 2025 KCSE examination compared to 476,889 in 2024.
Meanwhile, 634,082 candidates attained a pass grade (grade D+ and above) in the 2025 KCSE examination compared to 605,774 in 2024.
Unfortunately, CS Ogamba revealed that the results of 1,180 candidates were cancelled after they were found to have been involved in examination irregularities.
