Police in Kajiado have arrested several suspects believed to be part of a dreaded criminal gang that has been terrorising residents in the area.
The intelligence-led operation began on September 4 in Kagio, Kirinyaga County. On the fateful day, authorities intercepted a vehicle carrying suspects on a surveillance mission.
During a search of the vehicle, police recovered a walkie-talkie, assorted SIM cards, mobile phones, spotlights, surgical gloves, and other items believed to be used for criminal activities.
The operation was later extended to Kiserian Township in Kajiado County, where another suspect was arrested at a residence.
A raid of the premises led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle loaded with ammunition, a walkie-talkie, several mobile phones, a tear gas canister, and various house-breaking implements.
“All suspects remain in custody awaiting further police action as investigations continue. The National Police Service commends the swift action of the officers involved and reassures the public of its continued commitment to dismantling organised criminal groups,” the National Police Service says.
