Police in Garissa on Thursday, September 18 arrested a suspected armed bandit after a dramatic shootout in Dumpsite area, within Garissa Town.
TRhe operation was initiated after reports of gunfire by members of the public.
Responding swiftly to the reports, police officers on patrol exchanged fire with the suspected bandits, leading to the arrest of one of them after he sustained gunshot wounds.
During the operation, police recovered an AK-47 rifle, five magazines, one magazine pouch, and 128 rounds of ammunition.
The injured bandit was rushed to Garissa County Referral Hospital and admitted in a stable condition.
Police are in hot pursuit of the remaining bandits, who are now on the run.
The National Police Service (NPS) has commended members of the public and the police officers for their prompt response, urging everyone to continue supporting security efforts by reporting any suspicious activity.
