A notorious criminal wanted in connection with a series of violent crimes in the Shauri Moyo area has been arrested in Eastleigh after police officers in patrol, ran after him as he was attempting to escape, along Lamu Road in the Majengo area of Nairobi.
The suspect, known by the aliases “Kanyundo” and “Rashid Abdalla,” ran the moment he spotted the officers, sparking a pursuit that ended at the Madina Mall Roundabout in Eastleigh, where he was arrested.
A search conducted upon his arrest led to the recovery of a homemade firearm and a knife, weapons that painted a clear picture of the kind of threat he represented to the public.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the suspect has a history of serious criminal activity in the Shauri Moyo area, with previous cases linked to him including stabbing incidents and phone snatching, crimes that have fuelled insecurity and concern among local residents.
The suspect is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment. He will be required to answer to the charges arising from his arrest and prior criminal conduct.
The National Police Service took the opportunity to once again assure the public that its determination to confront and defeat criminal activity across the nation remains absolute and unshakeable.
“Maintaining law and order requires constant vigilance, coordinated security operations, and decisive action against individuals involved in criminal activities. Criminals who prey on innocent members of the public pose a significant threat to community safety and must be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice,” NPS wrote.
