“Avoid making statements that divide Kenyans or fuel hostility among our people” – Ndindi Nyoro

People’s Party of Kenya party leader Ndindi Nyoro has called on leaders to exercise restraint in their public utterances, warning that Kenya is bigger than any individual leader.

Speaking during the consecration service of ACK All Saints Nakabosan Church in Turkana South Constituency, Turkana County, Nyoro condemned the use of insults, foul language and divisive politics, cautioning that such utterances could undermine national unity and threaten peace ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Nyoro also condemned the government’s decision to withdraw security details from leaders opposed to its administration, citing the withdrawal of security for Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.

He maintained that Kenya is a democratic country where leaders and citizens have the right to question the government and demand accountability without facing punitive measures. Nyoro urged the government to respect divergent political opinions.

On his part, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya, Dr Jackson Ole Sapit, called on leaders to promote peace, unity and responsible political discourse, warning against insults and divisive rhetoric, saying Kenya is one.

Ole Sapit urged leaders to put the interests of the country above personal and political ambitions as the nation approaches the 2027 elections. He also commended Nyoro for championing leadership focused on addressing the needs of Kenyans rather than serving individual interests.

Turning to education, Nyoro lauded the church for its contribution to the education and health sectors, noting that its interventions have helped improve access to essential services, particularly among marginalised communities. He said partnerships between the church and other stakeholders remained critical in addressing challenges facing vulnerable populations and bridging gaps in service delivery.

The PPK leader further pledged that the opposition would prioritise access to free basic education, including day secondary schooling. Nyoro maintained that education should be treated as a basic need accessible to every Kenyan, regardless of their economic background, arguing that removing financial barriers would give more children an opportunity to complete their studies.

Meanwhile, leaders accompanying Nyoro raised concerns over rising insecurity and livestock theft in the region, calling on the government to take responsibility for protecting residents and their property.
