Cape Media’s Dr Ofweneke on October 20, 2026 won a fun race featuring content creators and senior government officials during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret
The fun race brought together senior government officials and celebrities, who took to the track for a friendly sprint that drew cheers and laughter from spectators.
Participants included Interior Cabinet Secretaries Kipchumba Murkomen, Principal Secretaries Fikirini Jacobs and Chris Kiptoo, digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, content creator Arap Uria, former world junior record holder Japheth Kimutai and Cape Media’s host Sande Bush alias Dr Ofweneke.
The participants wore T-shirts featuring red, green, black and white stripes, paired with green shorts, reflecting the colours of the Kenyan flag as they prepared for the light-hearted contest.
As the group prepared to take to the field, Assistant Director of Protocol and Events Chipukeezy set the tone with playful remarks, describing the contest as a showdown between elite athletes and what he jokingly called “fake athletes.”
“Mashindano haya ni kati ya wanariadha shupavu, world champions wanashindana na wanariadha wengine ambao ni bandia,” he said.
The comedian continued teasing the participants as they lined up for the race, joking that ambulances should be put on standby.
He also singled out Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo, suggesting that the other competitors should allow him to win because he has more money since he is in charge of the country’s finances.
“Yeye ndio mwenye hela,” said Chipukeezy.
As the runners crouched in preparation for the start, Kiptoo appeared eager to get going before the rest of the group.
Chipukeezy quickly seized the moment, reminding him to follow the rules despite his position in government.
“PS, tunaelewa umebeba hela lakini hapa lazima ufuate utaratibu,” he joked.
The exchange added to the light-hearted atmosphere as the competitors settled into their positions and waited for the starting signal.
Chipukeezy continued providing commentary, poking fun at the runners as they competed.
“Bwana Itumbi anaongoza kutoka nyuma,” he remarked, drawing further laughter from the crowd.
Radio 47 and TV47 host Dr Ofweneke eventually crossed the finishing line first, taking the bragging rights in the friendly contest.
