‘Chokoza’ hitmaker Marya hospitalized after suffering a stroke, seeks financial support

Kenyan singer Marya, best known for her hits in the early 2010s and her contribution to the local music industry, is currently hospitalised after suffering a stroke.

The celebrated artist, who rose to fame with hits like “Chokoza” featuring Avril and “Hey Baby” alongside rapper Mustapha, is now facing a difficult health journey.

Marya is reported to be in stable condition and is expected to be discharged soon, but her road to recovery remains long and challenging.

According to a heartfelt Instagram post shared by The Avieway (Avril), who visited Marya in hospital alongside fellow artist Kendi (@officialkendikenya), the singer is currently paralyzed on one side of her body due to the stroke.

As a result, she will require extensive home-based care to aid her in regaining her motor skills and mobility.

“She needs our help to set up a care space at her home, hospital bed, wheelchair, ripple mattress, bed liners and much more,” the post read.

The message was accompanied by a photo of Marya in hospital, shared with her full permission, showing her in good spirits despite the circumstances.

Friends and fans have been urged to send in their support, both emotionally and financially.

Contributions to assist with Marya’s care and physiotherapy can be sent to 0723207376 (Mwikali).

The funds will go towards critical equipment and services that will make her transition from hospital to home more manageable.

The post, which has since gone viral across Kenyan social media platforms, has touched many, with fellow celebrities and fans alike rallying around the singer.

Many have sent words of encouragement and prayers, expressing hope for her full recovery.

Marya’s story serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly health can change and the importance of community in times of crisis.

Despite her silence from the limelight in recent years, she remains a cherished figure in Kenya’s music scene.

“Whatever you can share will go a long way. Much love, thank you,” the post concluded, reminding followers that even the smallest act of kindness can make a significant difference.

As she continues her recovery journey, Marya and her loved ones are calling on all who can to stand with her during this difficult time.
