The Co-operative Bank of Kenya has confirmed that two of its branches—located in Githurai and Dagoretti Market—were affected during Wednesday’s June 25, 2025 demonstrations. In a statement shared on social media, the bank noted that one of its ATMs was broken into.
Despite the incident, the bank assured customers that there were no injuries reported among staff or clients. They also clarified that the cash loss from the vandalized ATM was minimal.
“We advise that there were no injuries to any of our customers or staff, with minimal cash loss from one of the ATMs,” the statement read in part.
The bank also stated that the repairs have commenced and the branches will be fully operational in the next few days.
Customers from the two affected branches have been requested to access the bank services as usual at any nearest Co-operative Bank branch.
Meanwhile, the bank noted it was monitoring the situation and thanked the public for their continued support and understanding.
