Gospel musician Daddy Owen has clarified how comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi managed to complete his widely discussed Nairobi-to-Mombasa charity walk in just four days.
Eric Omondi recently undertook a 486-kilometre walk/run from Nairobi to Mombasa to raise funds to construct Sisi kwa Sisi rescue centre, beginning the journey on Monday, February 10, 2026.
The initiative quickly drew national attention, with many Kenyans online questioning how the comedian covered such a long distance within a short period.
Addressing the curiosity surrounding the challenge, Daddy Owen explained that the journey was designed not only as a physical endurance mission but also as a symbolic fundraising campaign.
“I’ve seen people asking how Eric Omondi made it to Mombasa in four days. The walk was a fundraiser — ukituma 10k taslimu it covered for 1km, meaning he didn’t have to physically walk that 486kms,” Daddy Owen shared.
According to the musician, the model allowed well-wishers to participate in the initiative by contributing financially toward the distance covered, turning the journey into a collective humanitarian effort rather than a strictly physical marathon.
After completing the trip, Eric Omondi expressed gratitude to Kenyans for supporting the initiative, saying the response exceeded expectations.
“We have exceeded expectations in raising the money during this walk. I want to thank Kenyans for the support they have shown from Nairobi to Mombasa,” he said.
