The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has assured Kenyans of a thorough investigation into the drive-by shooting of Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu in Nairobi.
Mbobu was on Tuesday, September 9 around 7:30 pm shot dead by unknown assailant(s) while in a traffic jam along Magadi Road. Eye witnesses say the assailant(s), after executing the assassination, drove off on a motorcycle.
The DCI says that immediately after the incident was reported, a team of detectives — under the leadership of Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Officer (RCIO) — visited the scene of the shooting.
After securing the scene, detectives from the DCI Homicide Bureau — supported by experts from the National Forensic Laboratory — carefully examined the scene and collected “critical evidence” essential to the investigations.
“The DCI is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice,” the DCI says in a statement. “Our investigators are working diligently, employing all available resources and expertise to piece together the events surrounding this incident.”
The investigative agency is now calling upon Kenyans to be calm and coopoerative as detectives piece the evidence together to pin the perpetrator(s) of the cold blood murder.
“We are determined to provide the justice that Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu and his loved ones deserve. The DCI says that it will be releasing more information regarding the on-going investigations to the public at an appropriate time.
