A team of DCI’s Anti-Terrorism Police Unit’s (ATPU) Emergency Response Team (ERT) is departing the country today for an international event to be held in Jordan.
The nine-officer elite team will be participating in the 14th Annual Warrior Competition 2025, which brings together top investigative agencies in the world.
The Deputy Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) John Onyango on Tuesday, September 30 flagged off the team which entrenched its foothold at the international event following a splendid triumph at the East African Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPPCO) SWAT Challenge held in Rwanda in January, 2025.
Even more incredible is the fact that the team is one of only two African teams that have been selected to showcase their prowess, alongside Rwanda, proudly representing the continent on a global scene.

Onyango expressed immense pride at the team’s accomplishments and wished them well, while exuding optimism in their victory. He encouraged them to focus squarely on bagging the top prize, while stressing on the invaluable importance of team work and discipline.
The 14th Annual Warrior Competition 2025 event, scheduled for 5th to 9th October 2025, will bring together 38 teams of elite Special Forces, military, and law enforcement units from 23 countries to compete in one of the most challenging and realistic competitions of its kind.
Designed to test and sharpen the skills of participants, the competition highlights both individual capabilities and the importance of teamwork under pressure, through a series of advanced tactical scenarios and mission-based tasks.
The ceremony was also attended by the Officer Commanding the ATPU Nairobi Region, Nicholas Kimathi, and the ERT Commander, Chief Inspector Alvince Osura.
