Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Kenya Police Service, Eliud Lagat, on Wednesday, September 3 made an impromptu visit to Narok Police Station.

Accompanied by senior officers, this was part of the ongoing efforts to transform police stations and other service areas into centres of excellence.

Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Narok Central Sub-County Police Commander John Momanyi, SSP, OCS CI Erick Opiyo, and Base Commander CI Julius Phoghisio.

During the familiarisation tour, the DIG inspected various key areas of the station, including the report office, cells, traffic and DCI offices, and he pointed out areas requiring improvement.

He later held a meeting with section heads, where he commended them for their commitment and dedication to service delivery amidst various challenges.

Moreover, the DIG emphasised the importance of teamwork between departments in combating crime. He stated that the invasion of private property must be dealt with in accordance with the law without bias.

Furthermore, he urged officers to desist from corrupt practices and warned that stern action would be taken against any officer found culpable. DIG Lagat reiterated the importance of mental health in relation to efficient and effective service delivery. He urged the officers to always execute their mandate within the confines of the law and police regulations and reaffirmed the NPS’s commitment to improving working conditions and enhancing officers’ welfare.

The officers expressed their appreciation for the visit, noting that such engagement helps bridge the gap in communication between field officers and the top command. They assured the DIG of the commitment of all officers to enhancing service delivery.
