Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i will today (Wednesday, September 17) hold a high profile interview on TV47.
The interview, exclusive to TV47, will be live on all TV47 social media platforms from 9 pm, hosted by the witty Inea Debarl.
The interview will tackle an array of areas, with emphasis put on Dr Matiang’i’s presidential ambitions in 2027, and his capabilities of holding a united opposition.
Dr. Matiang’i, a super Cabinet Secretary during Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, declared his presidential bid in May this year, at a fully-packed Gusii Stadium.
“For ten years, I worked tirelessly for this country. I am known to be a good worker, and if given the chance, I am ready to work for Kenyans,” he said during his triumpant homecoming. “We have many challenges—let’s not pretend. Let’s not be divided and end up destroying our country. We must remain hopeful and united.”
Dr. Matiang’i prides himself as the man who is capable of fixing Kenya’s problems, basing on his track-record and no-nonsense demenour.
He currently pledges allegiance to the United Opposition, a faction that boasts of former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, DAP-Kenya Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, the People’s Liberation Party Leader Martha Karua, former Attorney General Justin Muturi among others.
The United Opposition is hell-bent on unseating President Ruto come 2027. However, they have to pass the hardest hurdle yet as a faction— Who will fly the opposition’s presidential flag?
In the recent past, Gachagua has been on a charm offensive in his Mt Kenya backyard, positioning himself as the ideal opposition candidate. Kalonzo, on the other hand sees himself as the silver bullet to make Ruto the first president to serve for one term, boasting as the most experienced, the most senior and probably the most followed politician amongst the pool.
In today’s interview, we seek to answer the question, “Does Dr. Fred Matiang’i have what it takes to fly the opposition’s presidential flag in 2027?”, right from the horse’s mouth.
Do not miss this intriquing, eye-opening, top-notch discussion, only on TV47 and all its social media platforms.
