Police in Nandi County on Friday, September 12 impounded a Toyota Harrier vehicle that was ferrying over 1,000 litres of ethanol.
The officers from Ndurio Police Post were acting on intelligence when they flagged down a white Toyota Harrier, registration number KCG 426D, at Ndurio Trading Centre.
Upon noticing the police roadblock, the driver of the said vehicle attempted to evade arrest by making a U-turn, prompting a chase.
The driver later abandoned the vehicle, which was driven to Kobujoi Police Station.
“Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered three sets of number plates bearing registration numbers KCM 924K, KBK 469Y, and KBU 152S; forty-five jerricans each containing 30 litres of a liquid suspected to be ethanol; two rolls of cannabis sativa; one mobile phone; and a laminated smart driving licence,” a police report says.
The vehicle was detained at Kobujoi Police Station, while the recovered items have been secured as exhibits.
Police officers are currently pursuing the suspect to face justice.
