The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) sold five (5) properties recovered from former Migori Governor Okoth Obado and the former head of treasury at the City County of Nairobi, Stephen Ogaga Osiro, through a public auction held on Thursday, October 9.
The auctioned properties, located in Nairobi, form part of ten (10) assets earmarked for disposal following court orders in Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Suit No. 20 of 2018 and Suit No. 10 of 2021.
The properties sold and their realised values were as follows:
- Riara Apartment No. FF3 Three Bedroom on LR 330/140 Nairobi/Block 14/247- sold at KSh14,000,000,
- Greenspan Estate Apartment Three Bedroom on LR No. Nairobi/Block 82/8759- sold at KSh6,950,000,
- Greenspan Estate Two Bedroom Apartment on LR No. Nairobi/Block 82/8759- Sold at KSh6,755,000,
- Greenspan Estate Maisonette No. 279 on LR No. Nairobi/Block 82/8759 – Sold at KSh11,000,000, and
- Loresho Ridge Estate Town House on LR No. 21080/63 – Sold at KSh31,000,000.
The total amount realised from the five properties is KSh69,705,000. Notably, all the properties were sold at prices above their valuation reserve prices.
The remaining properties, situated in Kisumu and Migori Counties, are scheduled for auction on Thursday, October 16, 2025, with the EACC inviting members of the public to participate in the exercise.
In line with Section 56C of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, all proceeds from the sale of recovered assets shall be deposited into the Consolidated Fund.
The Commission has reiterated its commitment to tracing and recovering proceeds of corruption and unexplained wealth to ensure that perpetrators of corruption and economic crimes do not benefit from their ill-gotten wealth.
