The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a slight drop in the prices of super petrol and kerosene. In its latest monthly review, EPRA has reduced the prices of these two fuels by Sh1 per litre, while the price of diesel will remain unchanged.
These new prices, which took effect at midnight, will be in force from August 15 to September 14, 2025. EPRA Director General Daniel Kiptoo Bargoria stated that the adjustments were made in line with the Petroleum Act, 2019, and Legal Notice No. 192 of 2022.
In Nairobi, motorists will now pay Sh185.31 for a litre of super petrol and Sh155.58 for kerosene. The price of diesel remains at Sh171.58. For those in Mombasa, the new prices are Sh182.03 for super petrol, Sh168.30 for diesel, and Sh152.29 for kerosene.
The regulator noted that the adjustments reflect changes in the global market. The average landed cost of super petrol decreased by 0.73 per cent from $628.30 to $623.71 per cubic metre between June and July.
However, the landed costs for diesel and kerosene actually increased, by 3.08 per cent and 3.20 per cent respectively, which is why their prices remained steady or were not reduced further.
This latest review comes after a period of high prices in the previous cycle, from July 15 to August 14, where fuel costs had seen a significant rise.
The Authority has reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring fair competition and protecting the interests of both consumers and investors.
