Family reveals wish of the late Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho

The public funeral service for the Late Ol Kalou Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) David Njuguna Kiaraho will be conducted on Wednesday, 8th April 2026 at Ol Kalou Stadium.

The late MP’s family has however revealed that it was his wish not to have a public body viewing upon his passing.

Speaking in Parliament on March 31, 2026, Chairperson of the Ad-Hoc Funeral Organizing Committee Hon. Kwenya Thuku, MP (Kinangop) assured that the late Legislator’s Constituents will have an opportunity to pay their last respects to their deceased MP, despite his burial being scheduled for Friday 10th at his Tigoni Farm in Limuru.

“Hon. Kiaraho was a third-time MP meaning he is a man of the people. Therefore, in consultation with the family, a resolution has been made to have a public memorial service for him in Ol Kalou Stadium next Wednesday,” said Hon. Kwenya.

The decision was agreed upon in a planning meeting held at Parliament Buildings between the Hon. Kwenya-led Parliamentary Ad-Hoc Committee and members of the Late Kiaraho’s family, led by former MP Hon. Lewis Nguyai who chairs the family’s Planning Committee.

“The National Assembly shall, in consultation with the Ministry of Interior, undertake to ensure that the body of Hon. Kiaraho is airlifted to Ol Kalou on Wednesday 8th, where there shall be a funeral service attended by leaders and all interested members of the Public,” Assured Hon. Kwenya.

Despite the casket laying in Ol Kalou during the service, the remains of the late MP shall not be opened for public viewing, in accordance with his last wishes, and family tradition.

The family of the late legislator shall spend the Easter weekend at their Ol Kalou home. A vigil to celebrate his life will be held at his rural home on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

The final memorial service will be held at St Andrew’s Church in Nairobi on Friday, April 10, 2026 morning, before his interment at his farm in Tigoni in accordance with the Late MP’s wishes.
