FKF adjusts Western Zone D2 promotion slots down to eight after playoff review

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has issued a clarification regarding the number of promotion slots for the FKF Division Two Western Zone following the recent expansion of the league.

In a letter dated October 30, 2025, FKF General Secretary Harold Ndege explained that the Western Zone had initially been allocated ten (10) promotion slots.

However, after a review, it was discovered that the Zone had already completed its Promotion Playoffs earlier in the year.

According to FKF, the playoffs involved eight teams drawn from both Pool A and Pool B, culminating in a final match between MMUST FC and Samitsi FC on June 8, 2025.

MMUST FC emerged victorious, with both teams earning promotion to the FKF Division One League 2025/2026 season.

“The above-mentioned event wasn’t brought to our attention at the time we shared communication with yourselves. With the knowledge that the Zone had already conducted its Promotion Play-offs prior to the league restructuring, we wish to clarify that the Zone’s allocation for promotion in the new format ought to have been eight (8) additional teams and not ten (10),” Ndege stated.

This means that MMUST FC and Samitsi FC have already secured their promotion, leaving eight remaining promotion slots under the revised structure.
