Floods kill 14 people, displace over 150 households in Makueni

At least 152 households have been displaced in Mutyambua area of Mbitini Ward, Makueni County, following persistent heavy rains that continue to pound the region.

According to the Kenya Red Cross Society, Makueni Chapter, many families have been forced to flee their homes as the ongoing downpour causes widespread destruction. 

The affected residents are now in urgent need of shelter, food supplies, and other basic necessities.

In a separate tragic incident in Kaiti Constituency, a family is mourning the loss of two children who were killed after their house was swept away by a mudslide in Kilungu, according to local authorities.

The latest fatalities bring the total number of people who have lost their lives in Makueni County during the current rainy season to 14.

Meanwhile, the Makueni Emergency Response Team has issued a warning urging residents to avoid crossing flooded rivers and to remain vigilant as heavy rains persist across the county.
