An autopsy on the body of slain Kasipul Member of Parliament (MP) Charles Were will be conducted Monday, May 5 at Lee Funeral Home.
Officials of the burial committee say that all is set for the autopsy, which comes ahead of the MP’s burial on Friday, May 9, in Homa Bay County.
The legislator was shot dead on April 30, 2025 at City Mortuary Roundabout on Ngong Road, Nairobi.
Meanwhile, the National Police Service (NPS) says it has so far arrested four suspects in connection to the murder of the MP.
The NPS says that an analysis of previously obtained leads positively placed the four suspects at the crime scene.
Investigators, NPS says, have also recovered crucial evidence linked to the crime, as well as to the perpetrators.
Sources say some of the suspects arrested are members of organised criminal gangs, such as “Mjahidin”, which has been linked to armed robberies in the Eastlands area of Nairobi.
“NPS investigators and the technical team are working tirelessly, leveraging their expertise, to establish the motive behind the fatal shooting and to bring all those involved to justice,” NPS says in a statement.
The Service adds: “As a service, we urge the public to remain calm and refrain from speculating, as our teams work diligently to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation. Moreover, the NPS advises individuals not directly involved in this investigation to refrain from making comments that could hinder ongoing efforts.”
