From D+ in 2010 to B- in 2025: Mother of two shocks village with excellent KCSE results

A 35-year-old mother of two has shocked the entire Kapchorwa Village in Emgwen Constituency, Nandi County, after scoring a B- (Minus) in her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.

Jerop Fridah produced the impressive results after re-sitting for her national examinations at the Kapserton Adult Education School.

A screen grab of Fridah Jerop’s 2025 KCSE results, recording impressive mean grade of B-.

But this was not the first time she was sitting for KCSE. The first time, in 2010, Jerop scored a D+, and as they say… life happened.

After scoring a D+ in her first KCSE in 2010 at Kabirisang Secondary School, Jerop did not proceed with her studies because of the numerous challenges, mainly financial, she faced.

Coupled with the false belief that she had not performed well, Jerop instead opted for marriage at the young age of 21.

“We engaged with my husband in 2010 and later separated due to personal issues. I decided to go back to school later to pursue and fulfil my dreams of becoming a nurse,” Jerop, popularly known as Fridah Lelei Smiley on Facebook, told Gwiji Digital News.

After staying in marriage for six years, Jerop would decide to return to school, and the urge to pursue her preferred nursing career forced her to join Kapserton ACE/NFE Centre.

Her parents took care of her two children while she pursued education with renewed vigour and hope.

The stars are now starting to align for Jerop after she scored a B-, toping the school. She can now pursue her dreams.
