South Mugirango Member of Parliament Sylvanus Osoro’s from grass to grace life story was once again an inspiration to many during the National Prayer Breakfast held on Wednesday, May 28 at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.
The legislator lost both his parents when he was only 10 years. Consequently, Osoro ran away from his uncle’s house to live on the streets of Nairobi for several months.
As that tender age, Osoro would stay in the streets for five months, sleeping on the pavements, before one of his uncle’s neighbours found him and took him in. At the time, Osoro’s uncles was still in jail.
The Kenya National Prayer Breakfast Organizing Committee Co-chairperson Samuel Chepkonga could not help but admire MP Osoro, who had just led the Parliament’s choir in a praise and worship session.
“MP Sylvanus Osoro is a very interesting man. We call him Pastor Osoro sometimes. If he tells you his testimony, if you are not born again, you will get born again,” Chepkonga, who is also the Ainabkoi Constituency MP, remarked. “He was picked from the streets of Machakos Bus Stage when he had lost both of his parents. He was adopted by some parents in Kabete, and that is where he grew up.”
Chepkonga revealed how colleagues see in Osoro in the corridors of Parliament. “I was telling people yesterday, this Hon Osoro has been brought from grass to grace. So when you see him, you can see the grace of God in our good friend Mr Osoro.”
The Annual Prayer Breakfast is an inter-denominational prayer meeting organised by Members of Parliament and brings together various leaders from across the country and beyond. The 2025 Annual Prayer Breakfast is being held under the theme “Rise and Rebuild.”
