‘Gachagua’s political wave will fade before 2027’ -Moses Kuria

President William Ruto’s senior economic advisor Moses Kuria has downplayed the growing political influence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, predicting that the momentum he currently enjoys will not last until the 2027 general elections.

Kuria argued that Gachagua’s popularity is emotional and reactionary, rather than built on solid political ground.

He stated that Gachagua’s current political rise is fueled by emotions and anger following his impeachment last year, warning that such energy is not sustainable in the long term.

“The political clout currently enjoyed by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua is shortlived,” Kuria said.

Kuria also pointed to Gachagua’s leadership style, describing it as domineering and divisive. He claimed that Gachagua’s allies are beginning to grow uncomfortable and are considering abandoning him.

He emphasized that he had personally received complaints from individuals within Gachagua’s circle.

“He wants to be king; I have received calls from some of the people who want to be president, those who are with him. One called me complaining that Gachagua is blackmailing him. That coalition will not last. His true colours will come out,” Kuria said.

The remarks come amid growing speculation about Gachagua’s political intentions as he continues to rally support in the Mt Kenya region, appearing to challenge President Ruto ahead of the 2027 polls.
