The local administrator in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, who went into hiding after allegedly drugging and sodomising two underage boys in the area on April 20, 2025 has been found dead.
Confirming the incident, Gatundu Police Commander Jane Makenga says that the wife of Kamunyu Sub-Location Assistant Chief found his body at their matrimonial home.
Reports indicate that the wife was returning home from the clinic when she found the house locked from the inside. She would later contact her brother-in-law who helped in gaining entry into the house by breaking the lock.
The two would bump into the body of the assistant chief dangling from the roof. Police called to the scene removed the body and took it to Kenyatta University Funeral Home.
“The case is thus closed and it’s a sad turn of events as the victims will not get justice. I urge Kenyans to report such incidents to the police in due time,” the police boss regretted.
What happened?
Police had launched a manhunt for the administrator after two boys accused him of drugging and assaulting them in a shocking incident that has left the local community reeling.
The assistant chief is alleged to have committed the offences on April 20, 2025. One of the victims told police that he and two friends had gone to the assistant chief’s home to deliver milk when the official invited them into a separate house and offered them muratina, a traditional brew.
The victim said that after his friends left to check on a neighbour, he remained behind and lost consciousness shortly afterward. He later woke up at home, confused, in physical distress, and covered in mud. A medical examination confirmed he had suffered abuse. The matter was reported at Gatundu Police Station under OB No. 04/24/04/25.
Later that same night, the assistant chief allegedly followed the remaining boys to a nearby compound. One of them said the administrator approached him with inappropriate questions and conduct before attempting further abuse. The boy managed to escape and has since provided a statement to the police.
