Fresh after being crowned 2025/26 Kenyan Premier League champions, Gor Mahia officials and players led by chairman Ambrose Rachier visited the Odinga family home in Karen, where they presented the league trophy in honour of their late patron, Raila Odinga.

The club also carried the ODM at 20 Cup trophy, saying the gesture fulfilled a promise tied to a challenge Raila Odinga had given the team before his passing.

“We are presenting the two trophies. That’s the purpose of being here, to present the two trophies as requested or ordered by Raila Amolo Odinga,” said Rachier.

Speaking on behalf of her late husband, Mama Ida Odinga, who is Kenya’s Permanent Representative to UNEP, praised the team’s achievement and said Raila Odinga would have been proud.

“On behalf of my late husband, who proudly served as patron of this great club Gor Mahia, though he is no longer with us, I know he would have been immensely proud to witness the remarkable achievement that you have brought home today,” she said.

Raila Odinga Jnr also expressed his commitment to supporting the club and continuing his father’s legacy.

“Because I feel to honour my father, I need to be present more and to show more leadership… this is what Baba would have wanted,” he said.

The visit came a day after Gor Mahia secured their 22nd Kenyan Premier League title on May 31, 2026, despite a 1-0 loss to Nairobi United, having already sealed the championship with games to spare.

The trophy handover marked a symbolic tribute to Raila Odinga’s long-standing support for the club.
