Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday, June 3 hosted parliamentarians from Embu County at his official Karen residence in Nairobi.

Kindiki revealed that they discussed the status of national government development projects in Embu County, as well as government interventions to protect and strengthen critical agricultural value chains in the county, notably tea, coffee, milk, macadamia and cathus edulis (Muguuka).

Among those present during the meeting include; Senator Alexander Mundigi, Woman Representative Njoki Njeru, MPs Eric Muchangi (Runyenjes), Eng. Nebart Muriuki (Mbeere South), and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku.

The meeting came days after Embu County Governor, and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Chairperson, Cecily Mbarire slammed some senior national government officials for undermining her.

Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations in Embu County, Mbarire accused the said senior officials of going round the county, holding night political meetings behind her back.

“These officials who are in government are disrespecting me and they should stop,” she said in her speech at Makima Primary School in Mbeere, amid cheers from the crowd. “I will not sit back and watch as backroom political deals are made behind my back.”

According to the county boss, the agenda of the said ‘night political’ meetings is to strategise on Embu’s political direction.

“I will not allow anyone, regardless of their position in government, to sabotage or bypass my leadership. Planning political activities for Embu without consulting the elected leaders is totally disrespectful,” she asserted.

Governor Mbarire did not name the said senior government officials.
