President Wlliam Ruto has reiterated his commitment to a better livelihood for the police even as he called on Kenyans to “respect our men in uniform” as well as the security installations across the country.
The President spoke during an impromtu inspection tour of the ongoing construction of 542 housing units Kilimani Police Housing Project under the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP).

The National Police Housing Programme is a component of the AHP thats aims to provide dignified and modern housing for police officers.
“We must purpose to improve the living conditions of our police officers. A majority of our officers currently reside in aging and inadequate housing at police stations and posts. As a Government we will not rest until we provide better living standards for them.”
The new Kilimani Police Housing Project will consist of 88 studio units, 86 one-bedroom apartments, 176 two-bedroom units, and 192 three-bedroom units.

In addition, the development will include essential amenities such as a commercial centre, hospital, social hall, gym, Early Childhood Development (ECD) school, subordinate staff housing, and gatehouses.
“We are implementing our agenda and manifesto through housing. We are committed to creating jobs for the youth and ensuring that Jua Kali artisans, mama mboga, and MSMEs benefit from this programme,” He said.
The President was accompanied by Lands CS Alice Wahome, Housing PS Charles Hinga among other Ministry officials.
“Our focus is to ensure accessible and quality housing for all Kenyans — including our men and women in uniform. We remain committed to making home ownership a reality for every citizen, regardless of their social and economic status through the Affordable Housing Programme.”
The project is expected to be completed in 45 months and will generate over 1,000 direct and indirect job opportunities for local residents.
Highlighting these efforts, Housing PS Charles Hinga emphasized the government’s efforts in ensuring that every Kenyan, including police officers, the militiary as well as prison officers have access to better housing.
The Kilimani Police Housing Project will also support economic development by engaging micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as players in the Jua Kali sector, as suppliers of materials and labor.
