A team of detectives, working closely with police officers, has recovered a high-end vehicle that had vanished without a trace from a garage in Spring Valley, Nairobi.
The unregistered Mercedes Benz GLK350d had been booked into the garage for a paint job on January 30, 2026, but was later reported missing.

After a report was made, the detectives, drawn from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), Nairobi Region, and Gigiri, with the help of police officers from Imbirikani Police Station in Kajiado South, swung into action.
Preliminary investigations had revealed that the watchman of the garage also went missing after the luxury vehicle went missing from the facility. His mobile phone was switched off too, raising immediate red flags and triggering the circulation of the vehicle as stolen.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the detectives employed “painstaking” forensic trails to pinpoint the vehicle cruising along the busy Mombasa Road.
“A hot pursuit ensued, ending at a police roadblock mounted by Imbirikani officers in Kajiado South Sub-County,” the DCI says. “Cornered, the occupants opted for the coward’s escape.”

As officers closed in to verify the vehicle’s details, the suspects fled into nearby thickets, disappearing towards Oltiasika and Nosilale villages.
A closer inspection revealed that the Mercedes Benz matched the description of a stolen vehicle earlier reported, but had been tampered with. A fake front registration plate, KDR 003N, had been fitted to beat detection.

The vehicle has since been seized and escorted back to Nairobi.
Meanwhile, investigators are hot on the trail of the suspects, determined to bring the criminals to justice.
