Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga now says that his brother, the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, was in good health and spirit until last night.
Speaking to the press in Karen, Nairobi, on Wednesday, October 15 evening, Senator Oburu dispelled rumours that the Odinga family was not upfront with Kenyan regarding Raila’s health.
According to Oburu, he spoke to the ODM Party leader on Tuesday, October 14 evening, and he was vibrant and jovial.
“As I had told you before, I informed you that he was well and kicking about and he will soon be back in the country. That was not a lie; it was the truth,” Oburu, who is the co-chair of a committee coordinating Raila’s funeral programme, told journalists.
“He was very well until last night, I spoke to him. He was vibrant, up and kicking.”
Oburu says that Raila’s health, however, took a turn Wednesday, October 15 morning. “It is only unfortunate this morning that he suffered shock, which is suspected after the post-mortem to be a heart attack.”
The senator pleaded with Kenyans to accord the Odinga family ample environment to enable them give their hero a befitting send-ff.
“We are not just mourning, but we are also celebrating his life. I am only praying that our people behave in a dignified manner and let us give my brother a dignified burial and a good send-off that he deserves,” he added.
