Self-proclaimed adopted son of the late Raila Odinga, Oketch Salah, has vowed to speak out following remarks made by Winnie Odinga during a recent interview on Citizen TV with Yvonne Okwara.
In the interview, Winnie questioned Salah’s claims of being close to her father and of funding trips and spending his final moments with him.
“I’ve met him. But I’d like to believe nobody really knows him,” she said, adding that false claims surrounding her father’s death were “quite dangerous.”

Salah responded hours later in a post on X, saying he had initially chosen silence “because of the respect I have for Her Excellency the Ambassador, Mama Ida Min Piny from Migori.” However, he insisted that he would not back down from his account.
“I stand by everything I said about my last moments with Baba. Those moments were real, painful, and lived,” Salah wrote. “I will respond in an interview soon.”
His statement reignited online debate, drawing a brief but sharp response from Raila Odinga Jr., who dismissed Salah’s claims as “nonsense.”
Netizens quickly weighed in, with some urging Salah to retreat from the public dispute. One commenter warned, “Brother just go slow… this is her dad.

She was present in his life all the time… you don’t have to prove what you had with Baba if they were really true.”
Despite the backlash, Salah’s post suggests he is preparing to tell his side of the story in full. “Some things need clarity,” he said, hinting at a forthcoming interview that could further fuel the already heated conversation around his relationship with the Odinga family.
Raila Odinga was an enigma in Kenya’s politics. He died on 15th October 2025 while undergoing treatment in India.
