Homa Bay Governor and ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga has insisted that the Orange Democratic Movement must form part of the next government, saying the party will play a key role in shaping the country’s leadership beyond the 2027 General Election.

‎Speaking at the Homa Bay County Assembly during her State of the County Address, Wanga said ODM will support President William Ruto in his quest for a second term, dismissing calls by some leaders advocating for a one-term presidency.

‎According to the governor, the government has implemented several development projects in the Nyanza region, which she said have significantly contributed to economic growth.
‎
‎Wanga noted that ongoing infrastructure and development initiatives in the region are already improving livelihoods and strengthening the local economy, adding that the progress should be supported to continue.

‎On the 2027 elections, the ODM chairperson said the party expects to secure a significant share in government, including key appointments.
‎
‎She maintained that ODM should get at least half of the government positions if it supports the formation of the next administration.
‎
‎Wanga also threw her support behind the proposed National Infrastructure Fund, saying the initiative will play a major role in implementing development priorities under the government’s ten-point agenda.
‎
‎The governor further revealed that seven out of the ten priorities in the agenda have already been implemented, noting that the remaining issues will be addressed progressively.
‎
‎She added that concerns raised in the report led by Agnes Zani will also be implemented in phases, including by future administrations.
