Russia’s A7 payment platform has denied links to Iran after the United States imposed sanctions on the company and its affiliated network.
The US had accused the platform of helping Tehran evade sanctions.
“Company A7 categorically denies any accusations of working with Iran or terrorist organizations. This is a blatant lie and slander,” the company said in a statement.
Company A7 further says it has never conducted transactions in their interests or serviced structures associated with Iran or terrorist organizations.
The company said it was servicing “legitimate import and export operations involving consumer goods and commodities and thus the sanctions do not affect its operations.”
The US Treasury Department had Thursday said it was prohibiting any transactions with A7 and its sub-agents, calling the company “a significant transnational criminal organisation” and expanding previously imposed sanctions to the whole network.
A7 however says it has a modern multi-level compliance system, and all clients undergo screening that makes it possible to identify risks and excludes the servicing of individuals and organizations whose activities violate requirements.

A7 was created to ensure uninterrupted settlements for the Russian market, against which illegal restrictive measures have been imposed. In parallel, the company serves third countries not related to sanctions, providing legal export-import operations with consumer goods and raw materials.
