I would have made Raila president- Herman Manyora

Political analyst Herman Manyora on Friday, August 18 revealed that he would have made Azimio leader Raila Odinga president during the 2022 general elections.

Speaking during a live interview on national TV, Manyora explained that Raila would now be president of Kenya only if he were part of Azimio’s presidential campaign team.

“If I handled Raila’s campaign in 2022, he would have won by five million votes because there would be no contest,” noted political analyst Herman Manyora, who is also a lecturer at the University of Nairobi.

Manyora explained that the Azimio leader lost the elections due to lack of a structured campaign team.

“Raila got seven million votes without a structured campaign, I tell people to respect Baba because he is a magnate,” noted Manyora.

The analyst maintained that Raila’s main mistake was relying on the same political advisors, who had let him down in previous elections.

He regretted that it was so unfortunate Raila’s strategy could not go beyond sponsoring Roots party leader George Wajakoyah.

Manyora’s sentiments emerge after political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi recently revealed that Raila Odinga’s Azimio campaign team funded Wajakoya in the 2022 presidential elections.

Ngunyi, had alleged that Azimio planned to have Wajakoyah launch his campaign manifesto the same day, the Kenya Kwanza candidate William Ruto was launching his manifesto, though at different venues.

According to Ngunyi, the move was aimed at watering down Ruto’s manifesto launch.

On the other hand, Wajackoyah refuted Ngunyi’s allegations of being an Azimio project in the 2022 polls.

“Mutahi Ngunyi’s remarks are baseless, unfounded and serve to insult our party,” read part of Wajakoyah’s statement.

He accused Ngunyi of exploiting his party for personal political gain, urging him to use another tactic to possibly secure a role in President William Ruto’s government.

Wajackoyah finished third in the 2022 presidential race after President Ruto and Raila Odinga. He became more popular after launching an interesting campaign manifesto that included planting and legalizing bhang in Kenya for commercial use.
