The Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, today led the Chief’s Climate Action Day celebrations at Athi River Primary School, Machakos County, urging Kenyans to maintain schools as safe spaces free from political agendas and exploitation.
Speaking during the national tree-planting exercise, Dr. Omollo urged teachers and parents to be more concerned about what their children are doing and where they are.
He commended Chiefs in uniting their communities in environmental conservation efforts and safeguard future generations from the adverse effects of climate change in support of the government’s commitment to planting 15 billion trees by 2032.
The initiative, spearheaded by local chiefs, has become a monthly national campaign conducted every first Friday of the month across all locations in the country.
